First pickup: Saturday June 14 - Full and A shares

E. 4th St. community garden by Flatbush Gardener

The first Full and A half share pickup is Saturday, June 14 from 10:30 - 12:00. Pickup location is the East 4th Street Community Garden located between Caton Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway. All paid members should have received an email today confirming their membership and share designations. If you did not, check spam folders. Any questions on confirmation emails should be sent to kwtcsa@gmail.com.

As stated in the email, bring plenty of bags - and possibly a cart. Friends or family can pick up the shares for you, just provide the share member's name at pick-up.

At the first pickup, there will be a $10 cash administration fee collected. In addition, there will be a sign up for volunteer shifts. Volunteers help with Saturday distributions and generally work from 10:00 to 12:30. All members are asked to sign up for a minimum of one shift; please know a few dates you'll be available. B share members will have a sign up at the pickup on Saturday, June 21.

Farm visit: Sunday June 8th - Strawberries!

Chris and Eve of Garden of Eve are hosting a farm visit on Sunday, June 8th. The main event is strawberry picking and each CSA household will receive one free pint of strawberries. Also planned is vegetable picking, a farm tour, and small work project.

Hours of the farm visit will either be 10am-3pm or 11am-4pm. Several different CSA groups will be in attending so exact hours will be verified closer to the event. If planning to attend, bring sun hats and protection, shoes and clothes that can get dirty, water and a bag lunch. More detailed volunteer guidelines are posted on the Garden of Eve website.

We are hoping to organize car pooling. Those interested should email Gina at gduclayan (at) gmail (dot) com

Scheduled one week before the first CSA pickup (which is Saturday, June 14, 10:30-12), it's a great way to see where the food is grown. More farm visits will be scheduled throughout the summer. Check the calendar and blog for updates.
